Much more beyond this quote... "When you actually need to travel, your personal devices will keep you on track. For example something the “JITwatch“, or that iPhone app that triggers an alarm when GPS indicates you’re within a particular distance from your destination."... but everything has been done already.

"Free set of software tools that enable designers to easily "sketch in hardware". With no programming at all and working in the familiar environment of Flash, designers can hook up a physical sensor (e.g. a knob) and immediately get that knob to control a motor or a video projection. The toolkit works with a wide range of sensors, wireless sensors, input from the Wii Remote, controls motors and LEDs, communicates with MIDI devices, controls sound, graphics, and video in Flash, and communicates with DMX computer controlled lighting equipment, all with a simple drag-and-drop interface (of course, programming hooks are provided as well)."

The power of faceted search lies in the ability of users to create their own custom navigation by combining various perspectives rather than forcing them through a specific path.
For throwing at certain designers. Surprising how poor some cta's are.

A website showcasing the best (and sometimes worst) in e-commerce design, with a clear focus on the individual elements that make up online stores. We break down retailers and focus on individual user interface elements in order to provide a gallery of inspiration for designers, developers, information architects, and anyone working with online retail.

Registration keeps out good posters and attracts trolls? Who'd have thought that?
The dominance of visually-driven interfaces become especially problematic in the mobile context. Design principles and conventions like WYSIWYG and GUI become brittle and broken on small devices.
- A List Apart: Articles: Sign Up Forms Must Die alistapart.com
I believe we can get people engaged with digital services in a way that tells them how such services work and why they should care enough to use them. I also believe we can do this without explicitly making them fill out a sign-up form as a first step.

- Summary of my Playful IAs argument (Leapfroglog) leapfrog.nl
A lot of traditional IA practice doesn’t make sense anymore. Instead of directly designing an information space, you’re better off designing the rules that underly the generative construction of such spaces.

"This is an effort to make an easy and simple way to blend the accessibility of html with the animation of flash. JavaScript is then used as the bridge to communicate between the two." Just a proof of concept at the moment.
The very existence of the new, updated book hints that usability guidelines evolve over time. In one of the first chapters, Nielsen makes this explicit by revisiting earlier web usability issues to see how much they've improved in seven years. Each

"Using a Definiton List and the DOM to create a nice FAQ page where clicking on the DTs (the questions) "toggles" the associated DDs (the answers)."
It’s time we designers stop thinking of ourselves as merely pixel people, and start thinking of ourselves as the creators of experiences. And when it comes to experience on the web, there’s no better way to create it than to write, and write well.
"A font for programming must be monospaced, extremely readable, and must sharply distinguish between similar characters, such as capital O and zero and the number 1, capital I, and lowercase L. In addition, good programming fonts allow you to view more li
- zooming content | weblog | donotremove donotremove.co.uk
Each page is based on what I'm calling a 'zooming' layout. By that I mean that the information view and relevance on the page zooms out as the page goes down.
A twist on the Lightbox technique
A pop-up window that doesn't suck.
Each of these patterns (which are more general) and techniques (more specific) are intended to help you solve design problems.
